ZAC BROWN BAND | WEBSITE
When you first hear Zac Brown, you get that infallible feeling you've just encountered someone very special. Hailing from Atlanta Georgia , Zac Brown has captivated his native South with an amazing voice, classic songwriting, genuine personality and powerful stage presence that not only invites but also compels his audience to participate. Accompanied by accomplished musicians, singers, songwriters, family and friends, Zac is steadily achieving his goal of breaking down barriers and bringing people together through music that cannot be classified by one genre alone. Although his music and lifestyle are undoubtedly Southern, Zac has created universal appeal and a unique live experience, simply by being himself.
Only in his 20's, Zac Brown radiates an uncanny aura both musically and personally that is beyond his young years. It is this natural charisma that easily draws people into Zac's World; a world where collegiate fans rub elbows with blue-collar bikers; a world of "chicken-fried" mayhem where fans toast the sky (domestic beer in hand!). Independently, he has sold over 20,000 albums, routinely sells out premiere rock and country venues in the southeast and has developed a strong online following that has landed him in the Top 10 Unsigned Artists in the Southern Rock and Country Charts on MySpace.com. Additionally, Jägermeister has signed on to sponsor Zac Brown.
Already, Zac and his band have made numerous TV and Radio appearances in the southeast including on syndicated radio shows The Rick and Bubba radio show and The John and Billy Big Show, 99X in Atlanta and the Turner South network. DJ Axle Lowe from 99X predicts that Zac will be the “next big thing” out of the south. With every jaw dropping, frantic finger pickin', wicked fiddle sawin' live show, the Zac Brown buzz continues to grow quickly. Appealing to country, rock, reggae and bluegrass fans alike, Zac and the band perform over 200+ shows a year including support dates for The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and B.B. King. They have also played featured slots at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Beale Street Music, Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man Cruise and The Rock Boat.
Zac's latest album, “The Foundation” has the classic feel of a timeless body of work. Recorded in Nashville , Atlanta and the Bahamas with award winning producer Keith Stegall (Alan Jackson, Jimmy Buffett), “The Foundation” contains 11 tracks that are equal parts classic country, bluegrass, singer-songwriter and Parrothead. With influences as varied as the musical freedom of the Allman Brothers, the spiritual heartbreak of Bob Marley, the working class grind of Willie Nelson, and the sincerity of James Taylor, Zac has created a signature sound that somehow manages to be both thoughtful and carefree from one breath to the next. Tracks like “Toes”, “Chicken Fried” and the anthemic “Free” have been resonating deeply with a growing legion of adoring fans that sing along religiously at every show. Zac's love for the great outdoors, cold beers, and people in general clearly translates through his songs, which are part personal and sentimental, and part raucous and humorous, but never pretentious.
Raised north of Atlanta in Dahlonega Georgia , Zac is the 11 th of 12 children. He began playing guitar in his teens and cut his teeth playing solo in bars outside Atlanta where he built up an arsenal of over 1000 cover songs. In his early days playing out, he would challenge his audience to stump him with a request for a song he did not know. It was during this time that Zac would meet Jimmy Demartini and John Hopkins – the fiddle player and bass player respectively - who would ultimately be the start of the Zac Brown Band.
A true "Redneck Renaissance Man", Zac previously owned a restaurant with his Dad aptly called “Zac's Place”, that served up southern cuisine culled from his family's personal recipes. He also cans his own version of candied sweet potatoes, bottles a one of a kind pork sauce and grows and makes fig preserves. He also breeds his "own" classification of dog, the Weimerhound (a Weimaraner and Bloodhound mix). But for Zac Brown perhaps what is most near and dear to his heart is the establishment of his foundation, the Homegrown Camp, a non-profit all inclusive children's camp that will teach diversity, teamwork, nutritional awareness and life skills as well as music and art. Zac's latest album, “The Foundation”, is more than just a CD. It is also the beginning of Zac's life work as a philanthropist and humanitarian. In addition to the Homegrown Camp, he has also contributed his time to raising money for children with autism and medical supplies for poverty-stricken families in Africa . Zac currently lives in the suburbs of Atlanta with his wife Shelly and their 1year old daughter Justice.
