Seventeen year-old New Orleans-based fiddler and singer Amanda Shaw brings dazzling new energy to roots-based Louisiana music with her new CD Pretty Runs Out (Rounder Records), which will be available in early January. Working with material that ranges from traditional fiddle tunes to new originals that embrace both country and rock influences, Amanda and her band, The Cute Guys, create a sound and an attitude that are both authentic and bold.
Amanda Shaw is part of a new breed of young, roots-based musicians who have embraced both traditional and pop sounds. At the age of 16, Shaw is a seasoned entertainer with a substantial audience across the southern U.S., and, through her starring role in the IMAX film, Hurricane on the Bayou (released in 2006), is gaining an increasing national presence. Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk is a group of musicologists that transcend age and styles in a free-flowing approach to their art. The band's music incorporates drops of Sly and the Family Stone and Meter-esque jams as well as other diverse influences into aspicy musical gumbo.

Blues-rock guitar virtuoso, vocalist and songwriter Joe Bonamassa kicked off 2007 with the honor of being named Best Blues Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine’s readership in their annual Reader’s Choice Awards. The year continues with the release of Sloe Gin, Bonamassa’s seventh solo album, and fourth on his own J&R Adventures label. A mix of heavy blues, big rock and textured acoustic tracks that Joe says was in part inspired by Rod Stewart’s legendary 1969 debut solo LP, it reunites him with producer Kevin Shirley (Joe Satriani, Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin).
